Digital, Tutorials

This tool kit includes everything you need for that virtual aging for all things vintage; 4 black PNG files &1 ABR brush file that has 26 various inked brushes that will add that aged look to your projects.
First, I’ll show you how to use the 12×12 Aged Overlays to create an aged look to one of our pre-made Hof3 Album Kit pages.
**These Overlays are used a bit differently. They will add a burned, old aged look to photos, papers, everything. But, you’ll need to learn some techniques to enjoy the benefits & make the kit work for you.**

1. Go to: FILE>OPEN> & find your Hof3 Aged Overlay3. (You will see the ‘all over pattern’ on the grey & white squares showing it’s a transparent file. PNG file. & I’ve added a Detailed shot here so you can see the over all detail of the overlay.)

2. Go to: FILE>OPEN> & find your Hof3 Birthday Queen pre-made Album paper.

3. With your Move Tool, drag & drop the Aged Overlay ON TOP of the Album paper. In your Layer Palette, select Overlay Mode as shown here.

You can see the close up detail of the effect this Aged Overlay has on the paper.

You can apply these overlays on papers, photos, blog projects, printables…the list goes on.

Here are a few tips!

1. Follow steps above adding photos to your Album paper. **In the Layer Palette, you’ll need to drag your photos UNDERNEATH this particular Album paper so you can see the photos peeking through the negative strip! Fun, huh?**

Now, if you look closely, the Aged Overlay has bits showing right over the photos. You may or may not like this effect. The great thing about this is you can erase bits of the Aged Overlay to acommodate your needs.

Select your Aged Overlay Layer in your Layer Palette. Then, select a round Erase Tool at 100%.

Just Erase away the part of the Aged Overlay that conflicts with the photos. Notice I did keep some of the Aged look, but just erased off of the skin! You can apply this technique to any of the Aged Overlays.

2. Now, sometimes the Aged Overlay is too faint & you want to be able to see it more. Simple. All you need to do is follow the above steps in applying the Overlay Light Mode.
Then, go to: LAYER>DUPLICATE & duplicate the Aged Overlay as many times as needed to get the desired effect.

On this Album page, I applied the Aged Overlay 3 times to get this look!

3. Now check out what they can do to your photos. These photos are taken by the fabulously talented Jefra Linn (using the Lensbabies for this cool look.)

I opened up this photo & with my Move Tool just dragged & dropped the Aged Overlay black PNG file. I adjusted the size a bit to fit the photo & this is how it turned out.

With the Aged Overlay Layer selected, go to: IMAGE>ADJUSTMENTS>INVERT. This will turn the black PNG file into a white color. And look at the effect now!

All with the same Tool kit! Can you believe it? These are just some of the many, many things you can do with this Aged Overlay Tool Kit! Have fun & be cReative!

**Note: The Invert Technique I just taught you can also be applied to the Sanded Overlay kit, too! (just the opposite way; white to black) And with the kits being different, you can really have a lot of fun!
