Adding a House of 3 Blog Couture Background to Blogspot.

1. Download your House of 3 Blog Couture Background of choice. Here, I’m showing the Vintage Ledger design.

hof3_blogbackgroun1

2. You’ll need to host this on Photobucket. So, create an account, if you don’t already have one, & go to your Image Gallery.
hof3_uploadimage

**Notice the above red star: Make sure the ‘Reduce to’ says ‘1 megabyte file size’. In order for your background to span your screen width, this MUST be selected. (IF you have problems with the size of your 1MB background, you may want to try uploading it as a 2MB background. It may help in the screen viewing.)

3. Click: Choose Files & upload your House of 3 Blog Couture Background.
When your background is loaded, it will appear as an image in your account.
Click on the box & copy the Direct Link.

hof3_directlink

4. Now, you’ll apply this to your blog, so log into your blog.

5. Go to: CUSTOMIZE>LAYOUT>PICK A NEW TEMPLATE & choose a ‘Minima Template’.

hof3_minima

6. Go to: EDIT HTML. Inside your box, you’ll see a bunch of HTML code.

so…..Scroll down just a bit until you see body {

Below, you can see what it will look like with no background code.

hof3_plain

7. Now you will paste the Direct Link from your Photobucket Image Gallery into the blue highlighted area. **Note the parentheses.

hof3_edit

You’ll replace the HTML code highlighted as-

background-image:url(DIRECT LINK FROM PHOTOBUCKET)
;background-position: center; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-attachment: fixed;

as shown here highlighted in blue.

8. Click Save Template & view your House of 3 Blog Couture Background on your blog to make sure it’s correct. If you have any problems, just go back into your HTML code & make sure it’s got the link, etc.

Have fun changing up your Blog Couture!

**note: Each monitor & browser does different things to everyone’s *view*.
The backgrounds have been designed with this in mind.
So, each background has some designs on the edges *for those monitors * that show MORE of the background*
but, also has designs closer to the middle for those that don’t show all of it.

***You may or may not be able to see the entire background. (unless you fiddle with the HTML code, but I suppose that’s why you pay $$ for custom blog wear! :)

Please keep this in mind as you work with your Blog Background…and be sure to choose/purchase one that will accommodate your blog.

    help please!

  5. Rhonna Farrer Says:

Michelle…fan TAS tic!!! love it! congrats!

    cinnibonbon….
you actually purchase the download. Then, you will have a zipped file (after you download) that you’ll need to open up. They are offered as JPG files, so whatever program you have that supports JPG files will be the way to open it.

Just follow the instructions above & if you have any problems, post here or email me!

I purchased the Chintz set and when I click on the link to download, it just opens the image in a new window. It doesn’t give me the option to save it unless I right click. Will that work?

  7. Tonya Says:

I managed to post the image to my blog, but it’s completely out of place and won’t scroll with the rest of the page. It just sits there like a big brown stain.
How do I get rid of my previous header?
    Thanks

  8. Maria Says:

Are these true 3 column blog templates?

  9. Tonya Says:

Thank you for your help with my header. Looks great! I also purchased the background and I am having trouble with it. The same problem as many others, the width of the columns if off. I’ve tried everything, nothing works. And do you know how I can get my blog title into the header. Please Help! Thanks a bunch!

I wanted to ask though do you have any tutorial on HOW TO MAKE the backgrounds and banners themselves? or do you have a program we can buy?
I would love to know more, I really want to make my own like that! thank you for the great inspiration~!

I can’t get it to work. I am using blogspot. Help!

  12. Rhonna Farrer Says:

please email me when having problems.
most of the time it’s 1 of these things:

    1. There are extras in the HTML code: like, an extra space, or ‘ or ;

    2. If you’ve gone into Photoshop or some program & added text or something, then didn’t ’save as web’ …that will effect it.

    3. something else! LOL…
    i’ll help ya!

Just downloaded the free “gratitude” header. I wanted to try the free one first just so I would be sure I knew how to apply it, then I will purchase one of the others. Well, I have the header on my blog but it is “fixed” it doesn’t move. As I scroll down my blog, everything on the blog just “moves” over the header. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. thank you

  39. Lindy Says:

    Hi there,
I am having difficulty with my background I just bought from you guys! My background isn’t big enough, so my posts go outside the blue centered aread. I uploaded the background to photobucket, but photobucket no longer allows you to download 2 mb unless you have a professional subscription (which costs 25.00). I tried uploading my background to flickr, but I have the same problems. I know I can’t be the only person out there with this problem! I’ve emailed someone named “Stewart” several times, but he has not been able to help me and has actually been pretty unhelpful.
Are there any readers out there who could help me? This has been an incredibly frustrating experience.
    Thanks!

  40. Sarah J Says:

I’m having the same problem as a couple of the ladies above…my text is overlapping on the sides of the design. It makes it hard to read the text, plus I don’t want to cover the pretty design. Same thing on the banner that I have. Also, I had to edit the banner as “behind title and description” when putting it into the customized header otherwise I lost my title somehow. Never done this before, so any help you can give would be much appreciated! Thanks!

  41. Sherri Myers Says:

If I wanted to make mine own background and header what size is the image? Everything I have tried it is to small are too big!!! Please help! :0)

  42. Marcy Kaminski Says:

I’m also frustrated. I think your tutorials are very generic and outdated. I can’t resize my Photobucket image either. When I e-mailed for help, all I got sent was the tutorial with no questions as to why I couldn’t install the background. PLEASE help!!!! I e-mailed again today but received no reply. Thanks.

  43. Becky Elliott Says:

    Hi Rhonna,
I just purchased 3 blog backgrounds and 1 header. I am doing my best to follow your instructions, but just not getting it right. I don’t see the exact HTML wording that you show in your instructions, so it’s hard to know exactly where to put the copied direct link from Photobucket. I found the right spot on the blog template HTML, but the wording is just not the same as in your sample pictures. Keep in mind that this type of thing is a little “over my head”.
    Any additional tips for me?
    Thanks,
    Becky

  44. CRyan Says:

I was going to buy a blog background and header but after reading all the comments, I think I will pass.

    Love the designs.

  45. Becky Elliott Says:

I love the beautiful blog backgrounds, but I’ve worked on my blog for hours on my blog and have carefully followed your instructions, but it just isn’t working. I am hoping someone will get back to me soon.

  46. Electra Says:

I’m feeling the way some others are, I’ve never had this much trouble changing the template on my blog. The header I bought from you is up, but I’ve spend a couple of hours trying to change the background and I give up. It’s not a lot of money, but this HUGE frustration leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.
